What's the best ways to remove old rings from a rod blank?

Replies:

1. Hacksaw or bolt cutters biggrin.gif
I have done the top ring a couple of times to change to roller rings. Use heat. Pliers in one hand, rod in the other, keep working the top ring over the heat until it moves.
Take your time and good luck.

2. The intermediate rings you will have to cut the whipping, if you catch it right you can unroll the whipping. As for the tip most are held by hot melt glue, so a lighter carefully placed should loosen it.

3. Try dipping the rod tip ring in a kettle of boiling water.
Otherwise, a junior hacksaw along the length of the ring ferrule and peel it open with some snipe-nosed pliers.
