Any tips for a tope fishing novice?

Replies:

1. "Please use Circle Hooks with the barb shut down. No more gut hooked fish.
You wont lose any, I promise."

2. "A nice big bloody mackerel fillet (or head and guts) held at mid-water on a flowing trace (at least 150lb mono). Size 6/0 or 7/0 hook should suffice.

Tope just give a very strong pull!! I've missed some good ones by not having the ratchet on. Once they feel the hook they fight! Not a sudden dive or pull yards off the reel. But a solid pull all the time!!

Use light tackle with 25lb line. The fish will give you a good fight!! And of course, put them back!!"
