Line For Rough Ground

I am going to give Arbroath's Victoria Park a go and possibly the Harbour wall this year after I get a new rod and reel and I am just asking anyone what line is best for rough ground and also would strength would be best?

1. 30lb straight through of line that you can afford to lose.

2. The locals there often use 8olb mono straight through, but you could try 25-30lb with a 20lb rotten bottom.
