Has anyone ever tried Fly fishing for Carp?

Gaffer replies:

"I've had the privilege of fishing with Alan Cooklin who IMO has pioneered Fly Fishing for carp in this country. Alan is known on these forums as 'Invicta'.

Have a look at one of his articles..... http://www.flyfishing-and-flytying.co.uk/technique/fly_carp.html

His methods definitely work, he proved it to me, and I've proved it to myself. I had a great days fishing with Alan, which turned out to be very productive, though we did get some funny looks. Well worth a go!"

Other Replies:

1. "John Wilson has published various bits on the subject. Seems that he has had some good carp on flies."

2. "Try targetting surface feeding Carp with Suspender Buzzers in the warmer months."

3. "If you can find carp feeding on the surface, and especially if they are munching newly hatched insects, you can have some serious fun with a fly rod.

The trick is to put the fly gently on the water a little distance in front of the fish without spooking them. Ideal if you can cast at an angle with you behind and to the side of the fish so they don't see your movement. Then a fly 3-4 feet in front and in the direction they are moving. "
