Setting The Quivertip
What's the correct way to set a quivertip in order to see the bites?

1. There are two main ways you can quiver tip.
If you are fishing for "pull round" bites, as you would in still water for bream, tench etc you need to use a glass fibre tip. Have the line tight with the tip only just under tension.
In a river it is better to use a carbon tip and set up for "drop back" bites. Fish with the rod in the air and pointing directly upstream. Fish the feeder/lead directly opposite your position. The feeder (when empty) or lead should be just heavy enough to hold bottom. The tip should be wound round quite tightly to the feeder/lead. When a fish takes the bait it normally dislodges the feeder/lead this causes the tip to spring back.
Try to have tips in both carbon and glass and in different strengths. For "pull rounds" the softest that conditions will allow and for "drop backs" the stiffest that the weight of your feeder/lead will allow. A bit simplistic but a basic starting point.
